Why You Should Try BBQ In Fort Worth
Fort Worth is in the business of beef, known as Cowtown, so it’s no surprise that it serves some of the tastiest BBQ in the country. The restaurants here often turn up on lists like America’s Best New BBQ, like Woodshed Smokehouse, lauded by Travel + Leisure, and more recently, Panther City BBQ, which found its way on Texas Monthly’s Best New Barbecue Restaurant list.
Whether you’re visiting to tour some of the Fort Worth houses for sale, here on business or vacation, while you’re here, you won’t want to miss the chance to sample the BBQ at a few different restaurants and food trucks to discover your own favorite. There’s immense pleasure to be found in this city’s purveyors of sublime smoked meats, and there’s no need to don a big belt buckle or Stetson hat to enjoy it.
While we could tell you all about Fort Worth BBQ, there’s nothing like tasting it yourself. Head to any of these eateries and you’ll understand why trying it is a must for visitors and locals both.
Woodshed Smokehouse
Starting out with one of the most popular BBQ eateries in the city, after trying it once you might want to come back to Fort Worth just to dine at this open-air restaurant along the Trinity River. It has a modern edge with a laid-back atmosphere for enjoying classic Texas barbecue and dishes with creative twists. You can try it trendy, loaded atop a Brussels sprouts salad, or get your meat the traditional way, smoked with mesquite, oak, hickory, and pecan. If you’re dining with friends, try the Texas Trinity, which includes beef brisket, pork ribs, the sausage of the day, sweet & spicy pickles, camp bread, borracho beans, and potato salad.
There are some delicious sandwiches on the menu too, like BBQ pulled pork, and you can even bring your four-legged friend who can order items like the Organic Beef “Rib” Bone from the Pup Menu, with your assistance of course.
Panther City BBQ
Highly acclaimed Panther City BBQ, which serves its dishes from a food truck, ended up on Texas Monthly’s list in part for its pork belly poppers, which were noted as some of the best BBQ bites of the year. But no matter what you try, from the Prime Brisket to Pork Spare Ribs, with the meat smoked for up to 16 hours, juicy, flavorful tastes are guaranteed. Sides, like spicy vinegar slaw, mac & cheese, and potato salad are all delicious, too. If you can save room, banana pudding is on the menu for dessert.
Angelo’s BBQ
Angelo’s has been in town for over 60 years, preparing and smoking some of Fort Worth’s very best meat, drawing locals and celebrities alike – it’s the classic BBQ spot, complete with taxidermy on the walls and a rustic, cafeteria-style vibe.
Heim Barbecue
Heim’s is so popular, it has two locations to ensure there will be one open anytime you get the craving, with an eatery on Magnolia Avenue and in the River District. The latter includes a large patio for alfresco dining and a full-service bar. Both offer the same delectable menu of huge beef ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and bacon burnt ends. Sides include items like twice baked potato salad, pinto beans, collard greens, coleslaw, and the favorite, green chile mac & cheese.
