Problem-Solving Parents
How your child deals with conflicts will largely depend on you. Here’s how to be a good role model.
- When you can, make a compromise with your child to show him how it’ done. “You can finish that book, but then it’s time to take a bath.“
- When your preschooler is around, make sure you talk things out with your spouse in a quiet, calm manner. Come up with a mutually agreeable solution.
- If your kid caches you in an argument, point out that you solved the problem with a compromise: “Your dad is going to the drugstore after work, and I’ll stop by the supermarket.“
