Laundry Tips During The Rainy Season
Being a hands-on mom and wife isn’t easy but it’s something that I like to do simply because I love taking care of my family and I only want the best for them. I have to say that I’m quite meticulous when it comes to washing their clothes. I use the washing machine for bedsheets, blankets, curtains etc. but when it comes to their clothes, I hand wash them. Not only do they have to be spotless, they have to smell really nice. However, with the frequent bad weather, the whole laundry process is more tedious. Garments take longer to dry and they smell “kulob” when dried indoors.
No need to worry though since there are things that you can do to make doing laundry easier during rainy days. When using your washing machine do a short, water-only cycle to clean it out once in a while. Then leave the top open to let the drum air-dry properly so as to avoid smelly clothes. On your final rinse, use a fabric conditioner like Downy to get rid of the “kulob” smell.
Stubborn stains from mud can be removed by spot-treating them with detergent. Allow the mud to dry first then when it’s dry already, use an old toothbrush to get it off. Wash as usual afterwards. Floods are pretty expected when it’s raining hard so it’s normal to get flood-stained clothes. To avert the spread of bacteria to your other garments, wash flood-stained clothes in a separate load. In your last wash, use an anti-bacterial fabric conditioner to kill the germs and to leave your garments smelling fresh. It’s also important to wash dark-colored clothes inside and out to get rid of tiny mud stains.
If you don’t have an indoor drying rack, make do with makeshift ones like a shower curtain rod, open doors, or a clothesline tied from one end of the room to another. You can also use the warm area at the back of your refrigerator to dry small clothes and wet shoes.
Another tip is to use a quick-dry fabric conditioner on your last rinse to quicken the drying process. You can likewise use an electric fan to dry your clothes.

Quick-dry fabcon? I don’t have a washing machine in the condo but there’s one DIY laundry shop near it. I might try this. Thanks for the tip!
We always use Downy at home to prevent stinky clothes most especially during rainy season.
To make sure your clothes still smell good and stay clean even during rainy season, you may have them washed inside your home and hang wet clothes in open area. Of course don’t forget to use a fabric conditioner to ensure softness & fragrance.
Downy is a staple at home because of its lasting smell. Never used other brand and no plan of changing.
Glad that Downy exists! Am a huge fan of it. Currently I have those downy mystic, rose and gold variant which I alternately use depends on my mood.
We do this trick when traveling in hotel when we can’t be bothered to visit the laundromat. Sshhhh. We can see the difference.
In the past, we used Downy fabric conditioner. I don’t like the isang banlaw, we just use the regular anti-bac and then spin-dry the clothes so that we can just hang them inside. Right now, I am not using anymore fabric con because I am still observing if it is related to my kids’ rhinitis. So now, we just spin dry and hang.
I love Downy Fabric Conditioner! It makes our clothes smell good and the smell lasts really long.
I would love to use downy with those high quality washing machines they’ve got out there in the market. The ones that have drying options. I find the idea much more efficient than with the usual local washing machines which we have. We now just bring our laundry to the neighborhood laundry service bec of all the rains and stuff, but I would really much rather do our laundry with the right equipment.
I love using Downy Anti-Bac. My kids and even my mom love the fresh and clean smell even if its rainy season.
