Beware Of The Sponge

Beware of the Sponge

It was so boring the other day that’s why I decided to scan some magazines on my sister-in-law’s room. I was able to read from Glamour magazine about The Smart Girl’s Guide to Germs. The article was very helpful! It’s kind of a reality-check guide which helps you know some germ hot spots and how they really affect your health.

Germ Meter: 5/5

Your sponge is probably the most dangerous thing you’ll touch today. The average scrubber has about 7.2 billion germs in its humid nooks and crannies, many of them are nasty E. coli or Campylobacter, which cause food poisoning. To kill them, microwave your sponge, wet, for at least 30 seconds daily, or pop in it the dishwasher every time you do the dishes. Letting your sponge dry into a hard little brick every day helps, since many germs die without moisture. Still, some will survive, and any time you wipe up a mess you can spread the worst bugs around your kitchen as you “clean” up. You should replace your sponge once a month.
